Lecture by Prof Paul Krugman and Prof Yochanan Shachmurove

28th June 2024

On 28 June 2024, at the initiative of the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School, a very interesting event entitled ''The Future of the Europe'' took place at the House of Polonia, during which invited guests - Prof Paul Krugman, 2008 Nobel Prize winner in economics, and Prof Yochanan Shachmurove, a prominent economist and researcher - delivered their papers, in which they emphasised the value of introducing innovation and developing technology in Europe. The future of a developing Europe, including Poland, was presented in a very optimistic light.

Prof. Krugman's lecture focused on the issues affecting the modern European economy and how Poland is performing in relation to other European countries and the USA, such as GDP, unemployment and inflation. On the other hand, Prof. Shachmurove's lecture dealt with the issue of introducing the Green Economy in Europe. In his speech, he emphasised the value of drawing on external knowledge from various sources and observing good market practices.

The lecture part was followed by a panel discussion (including a Q&A section) with the participation of Prof. Konrad Raczkowski.
